Welcome!
Being a student can be lots of hard work. But being an Information Library Science student rocks! As part of an assignment for ILS 225 I was asked to make an on-site visit to a library within an hours drive of where I live. The intent of this assignment is to give ILS 225 students hands on experience with technology services and issues at a library of their choice.
Where in Maine would I go? The Ellsworth Public Library located in Ellsworth, Maine was the library I chose to visit. First things first, I sent an e-mail to the Assistant Director of the Ellsworth Public Library asking her if she would be interested in meeting with me to discuss the state of technology at the library. I sent a copy of the assignment as an attachment so that the Assistant Director would have a sense of what I needed. The Assistant Director responded promptly and stated, "Sure I will be glad to sit down with you. Let me know when you want to meet so I can be ready with the answers for you."
I met with the Assistant Director in her office on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 2:10pm. We went over the questions that were listed on the Assignment Sheet titled On-site Visit. The meeting went well but several of the answers to the questions were not fully answered.
My next visit to the Ellsworth Public Library is scheduled on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 8:00am. The library doesn't open until 9:00am, but the Assistant Director suggested that she would be happy to let me in early when I would be less likely to encounter patrons, to take photos of the libraries technology. See you all tomorrow!
